Smak is a peppermill design inspired by Scandinavian influences with a nod to traditional North American and British grinder styles. The design was initially created by Stephen Parsons, ChezCraft’s lead woodworker/ woodturner to commemorate the marriage of his brother-in-law in the summer of 2015.
Smak peppermills are hand-turned on a midi lathe in the Chez Craft workshop, crafted in walnut, bubinga, ash, and maple and finished with an environmentally-friendly, food-safe (linseed oil and beeswax) finish. The stainless steel grinder mechanism is American-made.
The Smak design adds enhanced dimension to the rich wood grain, while retaining a balance of straight lines, subtle curves and classic enhancements. “Smak” is Norwegian for “flavourful” – fitting both the form and function of this piece.
